Just finished reading a good book today and I really enjoyed it. This tale has a eerie feel to it. I read this last night, late at night when the wife and kiddies were snug as bugs in their rugs, or should I say tucked in like mummies? The sound of the rain dancing on the roof tops. The harsh winter wind blowing against the side of the house gave this a perfect setting, making it a lot of fun.  This book falls into what I call 'quiet horror' as it deals heavily in the psychological aspects. I began to feel really sorry for the main character, Megan. She is alone, hurt and desperate for the love of her husband who seems to not care much for her. The creature is quiet and creepy throughout the book as the author eases you into the grand finale. This tale is a five star all the way which I highly recommend. While reading this the tale, House on the Borderland immediately came to mind which is why I think those who can appreciate the works of William Hope Hodgson and Ramsey Campbell will greatly appreciate this one.

Cheers to another great one by Darkfuse Publications.

Coming out Dec 17 by Dark Fuse is Toby Tate's new book THE BLACK CHURCH. This tale dives into a mysterious prayer carpet. A carpet which holds secrets within its stitches.
While I didn't know much about prayer rugs, never really  thought much about them to be honest with ya, but apparently Toby Tate did and weaved an interesting tale of his own.  It didn't take me long to read this because I was hooked from the very beginning as Daniel searches for the mystery behind this prayer rug. This rug shows him faces of people who are going to die. I was so engrossed in this tale I became interested in prayer rugs and googled them. I learned there are a lot of tales behind them. Tales of mystery, and as in this story, tales of murder. It is interesting the amount of artistic talent that goes into creating these special carpets.
So if you reading this have one of these special rugs hanging on your wall for decor, you may want to look at it closely and see what secrets yours hold.
Pray. Pray long and hard that your rug has been delivered from evil.

This is a great tale I'm sure you will enjoy.

Here is one to definitely be on the lookout for. I'd have to say that this is one of the best creature features I've read. If you like William Meikle, Guy N. Smith then this one if for you.  Now, this isn't coming out until January so be on the look out for it.
At first when I started reading this I thought I was diving into some kind of alien invasion tale of some sort but it wasn't like that at all. I was rather surprised when I found out what it was. I'm sorry, I can't exactly tell you what the WHAT was. It would just spoil things, and frankly I think too many reviews give away too much information. You won't get that here. I will tell you this creature is one you will be familiar with and is real--- well kinda. This is a fast moving tale with plenty of action and the characterization is well executed. I felt sorry for the boys and what they were going through. Though the premise is nothing new, don't be fooled, the creatures and the tale itself is completely original.

Simply put.

This story is a blast

Coming soon is William Meikle's THE HOLE. Trust me on this one; you will not want to miss out. This tale is just as entertaining as his others, and is sure to leave you in a state of shock. This exciting fast moving tale is set in a small town and filled with many interesting characters fighting for their lives as they try to figure out what the holes are all about.
First off the hole hums, causes headaches, and nosebleeds.
But that's not all.
Wait till you see what comes out of the hole.
It's evil and it's dark down there.
You are going to be surprised!

When it comes to creature features this guy is the best. This is a five star read all the way. Lots of fun.

In the mood for a good ghost story? I highly suggest this one. The idea that hundreds of dolls are hanging in trees in a tourist area sold me on this one.I thought this was kind of odd and I wanted to know why hundreds of dolls populate the island. People are warned not to touch the dolls, and for very good reason. This is a fun creepy tale I think you will enjoy.

Be on the look out for this one folks. On May 28 is the release of a very special treat titled WORMS by Tim Curran. This tale sets in a suburban neighborhood and bounces back and forth between three main households. The story begins with filthy muck that rises from the earth harboring these man eating creatures. The worms are mean. The worms are vicious and are looking to devour anything that gets in their way. Filled with lots of gory fun and morbid humor as the residents of the town battle these ferocious creatures. I think those who like William Meikle and Brian Keene will enjoy this one.

This one is a five star book all the way.

Okay, here we go. Upon seeing this title I had to have this book right away. Something about a title like that appeals to me. I bought it immediately. Call me a sicko, call me twisted, I don't care. This book is pure campy tongue and cheek fun. I think you will enjoy each bite of this book as much as I did. I wouldn't suggest you try the recipes though. Though I can think of a few people I wouldn't mind cooking up and tossing in a hot pot of boiling water just to hear them scream..(grin) Come on now, it's okay to admit it, we all feel the same way.

This book is about a young boy who's parents send him to a fat camp to get whipped into shape. The diet plan and work out routine is strenuous and of course consist of a special diet. Things quickly get out of control at the camp...(there's a surprise in this part of the book) and turns into a tale of survival. I think you will find this book unlike anything else you've ever read.  This book is completely original and unpredictable. I know for a fact you've never read anything like it.

Lots of fun.

I have read several of Jeff Strand’s books and have enjoyed every one. There is no doubt about it this guy can sure write some fun horror stories. Like many of his others, this one is filled with a lot of the morbid humor he is known.  He weaves a wicked tale about a serial killer with a grudge who sets out to even the score for what was done to him in the past. I cannot tell you what it is; you will have to find that out for yourself.  There are many serial killer tales out there but this one I found very different from the others and believe me when I tell you, this is unique. This serial killer had me laughing from the very beginning, with lines such as I have the worst nickname ever given to a serial killer. I’m the ax murderer but she’s creeping me out.
This story was a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.

Children of No One

Warning, this will give you the creeps. While reading this I thought about the missing children you see on milk cartons and the possibility of something like this actually happening. I found this story very unique. The premise is a bit disturbing, the characters are demonic and the underground setting of this book gave me an eerie feeling. A demonic artist who has his own version of art which viewers are willing to pay a very very high price for. Do yourself a favor and keep an eye out for this one. Be prepared to be shocked.

Nothing better than a good ole fashioned mad scientist's tale. This nice collection will be out this month, and is one you don't want to miss out on. This collection was a lot of fun to read and features many popular authors. More to come later.

Here it is folks, William Meikle's tale CLOCKWORK DOLLS is out.

I have read several tales by this author and without a doubt, this guy can spin a good yarn. He writes about all the elements I enjoy in horror and sci-fi stories, mutant insects, monsters and sea creatures. His pace is fast as he cuts to the chase quickly and does not let his foot off the gas until the very end.  I think this story has a lot to do with what is going on in this age.  I couldn’t help but to think about the book ‘the secret’ where one gets what he wants by sending out vibes to the universe. In this story, his character ticks off the universe creating a horrific web of events for himself and everybody else. He really isn't a nice guy. The ending is going to knock you on your butt. The story moves at such breaking speed I couldn’t stop reading until I was finished.  I found this to be a very entertaining read and I think you will to. You will definitely want to go back and read some of his other books as I’m doing now.

Having served in the U.S. Navy for twelve years as a Boatswain's Mate I couldn't pass this one up. This was a fun horror tale and I enjoyed every gulp of it. I've always loved stories about ships and the sea. Sea stories give you that eerie feeling and the tingling around the back of the neck. Toby Tate's new tale here does just that; it creeps you out. In this book he has created a different type of monster which makes the story very unpredictable coupled with a few surprises as well. I won't tell you what they are, you'll have to read that for yourself. This gripping tale is fast paced, the chapters are short, not too long which makes for very easy reading and plenty of characterization and, oh yeah-- sex. One thing I thought was pretty funny is his main character, Hunter brings his wife on board to help him out. If you want to get your shipmates all kinds of ticked off this is a sure fire way to do it. This tale has all the elements of a good horror read, monsters, blood and sex. You really don't want to miss out on this one.

Five stars.

Another Good Tale

Here's another guy I came across via IAIN ROB WRIGHT the author of ASBO, FINAL WINTER AND SEA SICK to name a few. This tale is filled with a lot of action, characterization and suspense. He uses the old trapped in the cabin in the middle of nowhere type of setting, which in my opinion is always the best. The dogs are mean and of course vicious, lots of blood and all that good stuff that make horror tales a blast. I enjoyed every bite of it. This guy can pack more action in a novel more than anybody I've ever seen. There is not a dull moment in this book. This book makes Cujo look like a puppy. Definitely a fun read.
